Listening to Elton John's tribute to John Lennon made me go and revisit my images of my latest trip to Strawberry Fields....a visit filled with mixed emotions....lots of love...and sadness...

What happened here
As the New York sunset disappeared
I found an empty garden among the flagstones there
Who lived here
He must have been a gardener that cared a lot
Who weeded out the tears and grew a good crop
And now it all looks strange
It's funny how one insect can damage so much grain
And what's it for
This little empty garden by the brownstone door
And in the cracks along the sidewalk nothing grows no more
Who lived here
He must have been a gardener that cared a lot
Who weeded out the tears and grew a good crop
And we are so amazed we're crippled and we're dazed
A gardener like that one no one can replace
And I've been knocking but no one answers
And I've been knocking most all the day
Oh and I've been calling oh hey hey Johnny
Can't you come out to play
And through their tears
Some say he farmed his best in younger years
But he'd have said that roots grow stronger if only he could hear
Who lived there
He must have been a gardener that cared a lot
Who weeded out the tears and grew a good crop
Now we pray for rain, and with every drop that falls
We hear, we hear your name
Johnny can't you come out to play in your empty garden

Awwwwwwwwwwwwww Marie I love love love this emotional tribute to John , never been to Strawberry Fields NYC , I have seen this staggering memorial many times over the years in photo form ,but one day in the near future we must visit , stand with my ipod plugged in , listening too IMAGINE and release decades of sadness and not knowing to a crime that still numbs me at this wondrous chosen spot ! , I can feel the atmosphere and powerful connection the mass of fans and You have while visiting , Lennon's Mantra " And the world will live as one " is a tall order , but I am a dreamer , but not the only one ..... Sensational & Inspired my dear friend xoxox
Marie Gale replied:
Gosh! Paul....you must visit there some day....there is something so "disturbing" about standing in front of "The Dakota"...imagining the terrible scene...but crossing over to "Strawberry Fields" bring an amazing sensation of friendship and love that makes the whole tragedy somewhat less painful....I can feel your connection to this...just knew you would understand...Thank you for liking my "Empty Garden"...gotta love that emotional song!!! Have a wonderful weekend my dear!! xxx
